Tim Aiken has been a civil trial lawyer representing injured plaintiffs exclusively since entering private practice in 1975. But more important is Tim's commitment to give back to the legal community. Tim holds a position as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Marquette University Law School, teaching the medical malpractice based course "Health Care Liability." Tim has also taught law students and young lawyers each year in many phases of litigation and trial practice. Tim also twice donated his time to teach as the Kehlelem Scholar at the Norman Wiggins School of Law at Campbell University in North Carolina, again devoting his time to teach young lawyers and law students the tools of his profession. For the good of the Wisconsin judiciary, Tim has also presented papers to state trial judges at their continuing education seminars. Tim has helped educate young medical doctors by teaching resident physicians at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Tim is involved in the education of practicing lawyers as well. He has been invited to lecture and demonstrate on a volunteer basis to lawyers all over the United States and, Canada as well. Tim has also worked with his wife, Sarah Richman, on a variety of other charitable endeavors. They have chaired the annual dinner and grand gala event for the Ko-Thi group--which is an African dance and music group, emphasizing the arts and African heritage for disadvantage youths. Similarly, they have worked as chairs for the annual fundraiser for the Neighborhood House, which is a neighborhood meeting place for young and old alike in the central part of Milwaukee, providing day care and educational opportunities for the disadvantaged residents surrounding it. Tim is an active trial lawyer with tens of millions in settlements and verdicts. Tim represents plaintiffs in all types of personal injury cases and he has experience representing plaintiffs who have suffered a host of significant injuries including burn injuries, organic and subtle brain injuries, scarring, neurological impairments including paraplegia and quadriplegia and loss of limbs and bodily functions. Tim's practice often takes him out of Wisconsin to handle cases based in Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, as well as Europe and Canada. Tim has achieved some of the highest record awards in Wisconsin history. Tim helped win a record verdict for wrongful death loss of consortium award in Iowa. Similarly, Tim helped secure one of the highest settlements in Canadian history in a case based in Toronto. Tim's cases tend to come from referrals from other lawyers, judges who have seen Tim in action in their courtrooms, appellate justices who have read Tim's briefs and heard his oral arguments and even physicians who have seen Tim achieve justice for their patients. Tim graduated at the top of his Marquette law class, with magna cum laude honors. Tim also earned honors at Marquette, being awarded a membership in Phi Beta Kappa. His fellow trial lawyer colleagues honored Tim by electing him the president of the Wisconsin Academy of Trial Lawyers in 1986. He has also served as a member of its board for over 20 years. Tim was married to his wife Sarah in 2000 and together they have been blessed with five children and three grandchildren. Tim is an avid golfer, snow skier, and engages in various water sports. He has a second home and office in Wild Rose, Wisconsin which allows him to not only relax with his family, but to better service his clients in central and northern part of Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa.
